Little Stars Nursery School
A Private Academic School Licensed
by the Department of Education.

Philosophy

Philosophy

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION LICENSE

The philosophy of Little Stars Nursery School is designed to coincide with the general philosophy of the entire program at Shining Stars.  (Please see page 1 of 6 – parents’ handbook).  The goal of the nursery school program will also follow the guidelines of the preschool philosophy.  (Please see page 1 or 2 Preschool Program).

In addition, nursery school is designed to give each child the added opportunity to grow to his/her fullest potential in the areas of self-worth, intellectual, perceptual, emotional, physical and social development.

Educational activities will include reading readiness skills, language development, number concepts, gross and fine motor skills, and music.  The entire school day will be conducted in an atmosphere of security, warmth and acceptance of each child’s own individual needs.  Positive reinforcement will be stressed.

The nursery school program’s goal is to develop within each child the readiness skills, emotional security and independence needed for them to experience a very successful kindergarten year.

Special Parties
We will have special parties in nursery school for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukkah, Valentine’s Day and Easter.  Mrs. Morgan will post a sign-up sheet for your convenience so that you may contribute to the party of your choice.  Your child may celebrate his/her birthday in school.  Please let Mrs. Morgan know of your plans.  Please sign up on our calendar in the hallway.

Snack Time
We will have a small snack daily in nursery school.  It will consist of a snack and a drink.  We will ask each family in nursery school to donate either a large box of crackers or a gallon of juice periodically throughout the school year.  A reminder note will be sent home with your child when it is your turn to contribute.  Please do not allow your child to bring any other food to nursery school to eat.  Please never send popcorn or anything made with peanuts or nuts for snack.

Little Extras
Please send an old tee shirt or a smock for your child to wear during painting time and art class.

Personal Space
Each child will be provided with a space to hang coats, store paint shirts and an extra set of clothes.

Health Policies
